On Hands Nokia BGR E71 By
Any current Nseries users out there thinking of the switch? Slick candybar form with qwerty keyboard sure looks tempting.

Also after having 2.8 inches of screen space on the N95 8GB, it’s going to be hard to settle for anything smaller.
Switch?
What are your thoughts on the Nokia E71? I know it’s petty, but it’s convenient for taking those candid pics.
The Boy Genius Report got their hands on the Nokia E71, another hot phone that will work for North American 3G. For example, holding down that camera button on the Nokia E71 will not activate the 3 megapixel camera. I’m a multimedia phone kinda guy and know that Eseries is not really targeted for that.
Layouts Lite Dynamic and Flash
This tutorial is for Flash Lite 2.0 and newer. Written by David Brown (from agencynet.com), and in this 5 page tutorial he describes the process of creating the Bacardi® Mobile Cocktail application, including reacting to environment changes (like current time of day), and how to implement automatic Stage size and orientation switching.
Via Bill, there is a new article in Adobe Developer Center: Developing Flash Lite applications with dynamic layouts.
shipments, most and is lifetime (after succesful Symbian so J2ME million it platform Flash Lite) 3rd passes 200
J2ME is clearly leading, and Flash Lite comes after that with about 600 million devices having Flash pre-installed.
Symbian has passed 200 million lifetime shipments, which makes it 3rd most succesful (when counting the amount of devices) platform in the mobile space.

Adobe has announced details about the Open Screen Project, pretty important news for mobile Flash Lite developers as well. Mark Doherty/Adobe writes in his blog more details and thoughts to non-PC developers (mobile being important one).
“The Open Screen Project is dedicated to driving consistent rich Internet experiences across televisions, personal computers, mobile devices, and consumer electronics.”
“The Open Screen Project is working to enable a consistent runtime environment — taking advantage of Adobe® Flash® Player and, in the future, Adobe AIR™ — that will remove barriers for developers and designers as they publish content and applications across desktops and devices, including phones, mobile Internet devices (MIDs), and set top boxes.”
It is supported by technology leaders, including Adobe, ARM, Chunghwa Telecom, Cisco, Intel, LG Electronics Inc., Marvell, Motorola, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo, Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics Co., Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and Verizon Wireless, and leading content providers, including BBC, MTV Networks, and NBC Universal.
Some of the things this means:
Removing restrictions on use of the SWF and FLV/F4V specifications Publishing the device porting layer APIs for Adobe Flash Player Publishing the Adobe Flash® Cast™ protocol and the AMF protocol for robust data services Removing licensing fees - making next major releases of Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR for devices free

and N82 Sports Nokia With Ridge Tracker Breakneck Hiking
Today I went hiking with Sheila at Breakneck Ridge which is about an hour north of New York City.
Final Thoughts I’m glad the Nokia N82 has built-in GPS. Avoid shortcuts in the woods. I scream like a girl whenever I see a snake.

Simply walking straight towards the parking lot using Nokia Maps was out of the question because of cliffs, streams, and rocks on the way. It was probably harmless but I hate snakes. We stupidly listened and easily got lost trying to look for the markers. I was really glad I had the Nokia N82 because the ’shortcut’ we took led us to a poorly marked trail and an omfg snake. Check out the Flickr set for all the photos, but look at a few below. This feature is not currently available on the Nokia N95 but will be on the upcoming Nseries phones.
Sports Tracker
Sports Tracker is perfect for an activity on the weekend like hiking.
What helped us find the way back is by looking at our path on Sports Tracker to determine if we were heading towards the right direction. We eventually hit a paved private road and followed it downhill. What made it worse was seeing a snake slither a few feet away from us. I brought along the pictures from the Nokia N82. If a GPS lock was available, each picture taken will have the location data recorded without the need of another program like Shozu or Location Tagger.
