and Lite Dynamic Layouts Flash
This tutorial is for Flash Lite 2.0 and newer. Written by David Brown (from agencynet.com), and in this 5 page tutorial he describes the process of creating the Bacardi® Mobile Cocktail application, including reacting to environment changes (like current time of day), and how to implement automatic Stage size and orientation switching.

Via Bill, there is a new article in Adobe Developer Center: Developing Flash Lite applications with dynamic layouts.

Use Nokia For I Nseries School How Phones
Type in extra notes on each slide as the professor speaks. I can enter calendar entries on Google Calendar while I’m at home using my Macbook, or use one of the PC’s at the school computer lab. The three main applications I focused on are Mobipocket Reader, Quickoffice, and GooSync.

Mobipocket Reader

Mobipocket Reader is an eBook reader. I can’t speak for all students, but all of my professors use Powerpoint presentations for lectures. These slides are all available for us to download and print read before class. I can also enter the dates on my Nokia N95 8GB’s built in calendar application, but no matter what other device I use to enter meetings or due dates, it is all synchronized using GooSync. While my classmates using a physical book have to go through the index to find the drug, I can type the first three letters on my phone and usually find the specific drug instantly. You don’t need to carry that laptop to school!

GooSync

Goosync synchronizes the phone’s calendar with Google Calendar. I added a drug reference eBook for use.

Quickoffice

Quickoffice is an office suite that can read/write documents, presentations, and sheets. As a nursing student, I need to know what kind of medications I give to patients.

It is also faster. I transfer the Powerpoint files into my phone and view it on the train or bus on the way to school. Like I explained in my previous post, carrying a small device in my pocket instead of a thick reference book is more convenient.

I was showing how S60-powered phones like the Nokia Open to Anything party at Slate Plus. Knowing project due dates is really important and I need constant reminders.

If that’s not geeky enough for you, connect a bluetooth keyboard to the phone.

Judging from the pictures, it looks like it can sway an Nseries user into the Eseries. Also after having 2.8 inches of screen space on the N95 8GB, it’s going to be hard to settle for anything smaller.

Switch?

What are your thoughts on the Nokia E71?

The Boy Genius Report got their hands on the Nokia E71, another hot phone that will work for North American 3G. Any current Nseries users out there thinking of the switch? I’m a multimedia phone kinda guy and know that Eseries is not really targeted for that. For example, holding down that camera button on the Nokia E71 will not activate the 3 megapixel camera.

I know it’s petty, but it’s convenient for taking those candid pics. Slick candybar form with qwerty keyboard sure looks tempting.

I’m not sure if I’m willing to give up my Nseries phone like the integrated BREW be will Flash to

Via Bill, Flash Lite will be integrated to BREW platform. This change will take place this fall (2008).

This will rapidly increase the availability of mobile Flash player to the end users. What this means to mobile Flash developers? All the mobile phones released in the future that run on BREW (all over the world, not just in the USA), will automatically have integrated Flash player - meaning no more device or carrier/operator specific Flash Lite players.
