Going Next An Finland I’m Nseries To Launch For Week!
If the invitation email I received is accurate, I’ll be flown over from New York to the Nokia Headquarters in Finland and join other bloggers to meet with the product managers behind the launch. What is launching that day??? I am guessing the announcement of the Nokia N82, but I could totally be wrong. The invitation also mentioned that the event will be available virtually similar to the Go Play Virtual Event to those unable to attend. We’ll see what they have up their sleeves this time. I’m so excited, I can’t believe it’s only a week away! Shake Video: a Nokia N95 Music Player With The Control
Honestly, I think forwarding to the next song with a shake of my wrist is pretty cool; a very nice feature to show off in a commercial or to a bunch friends. The Nokia N95’s accelerometer is put to test by another developer using the built-in music player in the Nokia N95. phew! The software is not currently available for download, so we’ll keep an eye out if this makes it out to the public. —Related Articles at the Nokia blog:Nokia 5700How To: Update Original Nokia N73 Firmware to Music EditionNokia N72Sighting: Nokia 5300 in Danity Kane’s Ride For You VideoPirates Video Preview the Nokia N95Review: Nokia N81 8GB Part I Maybe. Definitely! The developer claims to have created the code in just 30 minutes, so I’m assuming the software is far from perfect. Cool? A lot of other things can be done with the Nokia N95’s accelerometer. Useful? I didn’t realize how close I was to my stick shift and slammed my Nokia N95 right on it. Fortunately, nothing was broken or cracked. I received a video response to my accelerometer video on YouTube showing someone controlling music by shaking the Nokia N95. Zach from Symbian in Motion commented in a previous related post some great ideas: With an accelerometer that supports 28 values you could easily control all kind of functions with gestures - a simple flip of the wrist in one direction or the other to cycle images in the gallery forward or back, turn the phone face down to pause video playback in a media player, a gentle shake of the device for one second to mute an incoming call, etc etc… A little warning though: shaking your phone can be dangerous… I was playing with MovingBall in my car and tried bouncing the ball.

If you feel the same, here are the shortcuts as well as a request for the S60 web browser developers. Shortcut Keys Press 1 to open your bookmarks. Press 2 to search for keywords in the current page. Press 9 to enter a new web address. Press 0 to go to the start page. Press * or to zoom the page in or out. Request Add a shortcut that adds .com to the end of the URL addresses. You can see this on the iPhone’s keyboard. I knew they existed, but I pressed buttons not knowing what will happen. I omitted some things to make the video short, but it still ended up to be around 23 minutes. Recording the Nokia N82 Q&A with the Nokia N95 We were given the Nokia N82 to play with during the session so we were a little distracted playing with the phone while trying to ask the product managers our questions. Most likely white. My initial impressions will be in the following posts. At the launch of the Nokia N82 today at the Nokia House HQ, I had the opportunity to talk directly with the product managers responsible behind the the new phone.

We took a few pictures inside. My girlfriend and I met up with Zach from Symbian in Motion, Donna, and Molly from Nseries WOM World to check it out. I would use it as a camera holder to make some cool videos of me using my phone or walking on the streets. I told myself to find out at intermission. The show lineup that night was nothing to get excited about, but I particularly enjoyed listening to Nullsleep playing music from programmed Game Boy cartridges! During intermission, I approached the woman with the unusual accessory and asked what it was. No details on availability, but she mentioned that it was an official Nokia product that will go on sale. Nokia N95 8GB Initial Impressions After the break, I borrowed the Nokia N95 8GB and started comparing it with my Nokia N95-3. In short, it is an annual 3-week festival showing off emerging and pioneering artists in film, theater and music. Sheila watching a movie with the head mount. I would use this accessory for a different reason, though. Unusual Accessory After we got our tickets, we headed upstairs to our seats. The camera turns on noticeably faster on the N95 8GB. After taking a picture with the Nokia N95 8GB, a status line saying “processing image” briefly shows up before the picture is shown. An extra option is in the camera mode of the Nokia N95 8GB that lets you turn on or off the squares that autofocuses on objects. The biggest thing I noticed is that I could not find the Video Editor on the N95 8GB! Why was it not included? My eyes are locked on the Nokia N95 8GB. I was only able to see her for a few seconds initially, so my head was going nuts. I was also able to briefly play with the Nokia N810 and compare the Nokia N95 8GB to my Nokia N95-3. Very enthusiastic about the Nokia N810. As we entered the theater, I saw an Nseries booth that lets people try out the Nokia N810, Nokia N800, Nokia N95-3, and Nokia N73 Music Edition. Things I noticed included: The 2.8 inch on the Nokia N95 8GB display looks great! What caught my attention was a woman wearing a strange accessory that I can describe as a headband that placed her Nokia N95 in front of her face. The photographers at the tent explained that the pictures were being uploaded to the Nseries NYC Flickr gallery. I was at the Crown Point Festival last night, an event sponsored by Nokia Nseries here in New York City. It was the first time I’ve met Zach, whose blog, Symbian in Motion, I frequently read to find out what stuff I can install on my phones. Pretty cool idea to transform the stage into a dance floor. All the photos are taken in Automatic mode. Spending time with the sweetie. Note that I said “camera-phone,” because without the camera, I have small things to complain about. It also features auto screen rotation that Symbian-Freak claims to be better than the iPhone! The rotation is definitely smoother and looks better with the iPhone, actually to be precise with an iPhone you can actually see the rotation while the Nokia just switch from one to another mode without any kind of transition when rotating. Nokia N82 with a shiny metallic look. I would like to get my hands on this phone to see how good the flash is. What makes this new Nokia Nseries device stands out? Integrated camera protection Secondary camera: CIF I have a guess that the Nokia N82 will be announced next week on November 13th, because of an email invitation I received. Real Xenon flash. People might be disappointed that the screen is only 2.4 inches compared to 2.6 on my recently reviewed Nokia N95 (aka N95-3 or N95 NAM version), and the 2.8 inch screen of the Nokia N95 8GB. Screen auto-rotation is cool, but it won’t be a unique feature to the Nokia N82 because of RotateMe 2.0 software available soon to the Nokia N95 with a built-in accelerometer. Auto Rotate settings on the Nokia N82 Availability and pricing is still unclear, but according to Ricky Cadden, the Nokia N82 specifications follows: Dimensions: 112 x 50.2 x 17.3 mm Weight: 120 g [Target] Memory: Up to 100 MB in-build, support for hot swappable MicroSD card (1GB in-box) Talk time: GSM: 280min, WCDMA: 180min (Target) Standby time: GSM: 270hrs WCDMA: 250hrs (Target) Main Display: 2.4″QVGA 240×320, 16M colors 5MPix, Autofocus, up to 20 x digital zoom.

UPDATE: A lot of people are saying that the Nokia N95 photo is fake or in night mode. I don’t even think I need to tell you which photo was taken with what camera. The Nokia N82’s major improvement over other Nseries device is its xenon flash. Nokia N95 first, and then the Nokia N82. I think the wall was too far for the Nokia N95’s flash to illuminate it. The Nokia N82 is the imaging king. Let me clarify. For a more fair comparision, I took pictures of an object in front of both cameras so you can have a better comparison. How does it compare to the Nokia N95’s flash? Well, I took a video of this face-off and was not surprised at the result.

Nokia 8GB Part N81 Review: II
I would hate it if this device falls unto the hands of those annoying people who likes to play their musicphones without headseats or earphones in public like the trains and buses. Syncing music with a Mac is currently nonexistent and album art is a pain to add to the phone. After transferring the files, the Nokia N81 recognizes the new files and asks if I want to refresh the music library. The Nokia N81 is for people who want music and games. This really depends by preference, but leaving both options off are also fine. The dedicated button is for shooting the special weapon. The preview for Ngage in the Nokia N81 is not a perfect representation of what’s to come. Replays are fun also. We’ll see if software updates fix these problems. —Related Articles at the Nokia blog:Video: Nokia N81 8GB Final Production Unboxing and Initial UsageVideo: Nokia N81 Commercial The Next EpisodeNokia N95 Review by the Nokialist Part 1Review: Nokia N81 8GB Part IVideo: The Nokia N81 Song Lip SyncNokia Los Angeles Mansion Party Itinerary They find the procedure a pain. The Naviwheel scrolls up and down lists… yes, just like an iPod. Negative. There are a few negative points that I want to point out. With Ngage, we’re supposedly able to play against other people throughout the world, and instantly download and preview games into our phones. You can choose whether you want the directional pad on your left or right when playing. Accessing music on the Nokia N81 couldn’t be any easier. In the end, I think the Nokia N81 does a great job as music-phone, and the upcoming Ngage games will be the main reason to consider buying this phone. For the newbies, the Nokia N81 8GB runs on the Symbian S60 operating system like many of the Nseries and Eseries phones. With Ngage nearing its grand opening, the Nokia N81 is looking to be the ultimate gaming phone. For PC users, All About Symbian wrote a guide to adding album art to the music player with a PC. I’m not amazed at the graphics, but I’m impressed I’m playing a 3D soccer game on a phone. There has to be a better way for a better music experience. Currently playing songs with and without Album art. Extra Settings. The Nokia N81 music player comes with loudness and stereo widening effects as options. Like I mentioned in the first part of my review, just pressing the play button at any time will play the last song. I played with these settings on different songs. The defenders will run after you and steal the ball if you keep the ball too long. It’s fast to play music and the dedicated gaming keys really enhances the playing experience. Unfortunately, the Nokia N81 is not yet compatible with Multimedia Transfer. You can rewind or forward and change camera views. Watch it below. Album Art. Album art is not automatically transferred with the songs. This happened so many times, that I just decided to turn off the option in the settings. You basically just move around most of the time while the ship automatically shoots. You’ll be fine if you play in upright portrait mode, but that’s not as fun. Asphalt 3: Street Style. This is my favorite of the three games. Results varied. Nokia says the service will be available in November. Read more about the physical aspects of the phone in my first part of the Nokia N81 review. Music Playing Music. I don’t really spend much time with the music player in my phones, but for reviewing purposes, I actually enjoyed playing music with the Nokia N81. Games The Ngage service cannot be fully accessed yet, but they provided three games for preview: Space Impact Light, FIFA 07, and Asphalt 3: Street Style. Sometimes the differences are barely noticeable, while others are obviously better or worse. Unwired View captured a great video demo of the Nokia Music Store. When I chose no, I couldn’t find a menu option to try refreshing the library again. In the second part of my Nokia N81 8GB review, I’ll cover the main functions of the device that makes it stand out from the rest of the Nokia Nseries: its Music and Gaming features. Simple, not bad-looking, and fun. I’ll tell you how they are used in the three Ngage preview games: Fifa 07. What’s cool about Fifa 07 is that you have two options of landscape views. Check out a video from Unwired View to have a sneak peek. Conclusion If you are looking for a phone with good camera, video, or GPS, you are looking at the wrong phone. In the meantime, you can also install other non-Ngage games. The dedicated gaming buttons I mentioned in the first part of my Nokia N81 review becomes active and lights up when Ngage is running. One for turbo, the other for brake. Space Impact Light I’m not a big fan. In offense, one button for passing player, the other for shooting. What I didn’t like about the game is that you need to hold the ‘5′ button to sprint. Landscape view is the only way to play this game. Quick Access to the music player. The interface will remind you of the iPod, so you know it’s not complicated at all. You can learn more about S60 if you are interested in these really powerful devices. The speakers are also loud, perfect for a music device. The dedicated buttons prove to be useful. To transfer music to the Nokia N81, I had to connect in Mass Storage mode then transfer the files over to the Music folder, the same way I would transfer files to a USB stick. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, take a train in New York City around 4-5pm. The speakers are placed on the sides and play LOUD. Transferring Music. I’m a Mac user and Nokia provides the Nokia Multimedia Transfer application to transfer music, photos, and files with compatible Nokia phones. Another way to play music is by pressing the the multimedia key where you can instantly play shuffled music or any of your playlists. For this part of review, I’ll talk about what’s special about using the Nokia N81. Surely, I’ll be checking it out once Nokia announces it is available. Nokia should add this as an option or just refresh the music library automatically. Buying Music. The music store is not available yet and you will see a web page that requires a password login if you try accessing it. My problem with the Naviwheel is often when I press down, it thinks I’m rotating the wheel. In defense, one button to change player, the other for slide tackle.

Control N95 Video: With The Music Nokia Player a Shake
A lot of other things can be done with the Nokia N95’s accelerometer. Useful? Maybe. I received a video response to my accelerometer video on YouTube showing someone controlling music by shaking the Nokia N95. phew! The software is not currently available for download, so we’ll keep an eye out if this makes it out to the public. —Related Articles at the Nokia blog:Nokia 5700How To: Update Original Nokia N73 Firmware to Music EditionNokia N72Sighting: Nokia 5300 in Danity Kane’s Ride For You VideoPirates Video Preview the Nokia N95Review: Nokia N81 8GB Part I Fortunately, nothing was broken or cracked. I didn’t realize how close I was to my stick shift and slammed my Nokia N95 right on it. The Nokia N95’s accelerometer is put to test by another developer using the built-in music player in the Nokia N95. Cool? Definitely! The developer claims to have created the code in just 30 minutes, so I’m assuming the software is far from perfect. Honestly, I think forwarding to the next song with a shake of my wrist is pretty cool; a very nice feature to show off in a commercial or to a bunch friends.
